We are requesting that any articles sent be from “from mainstream media or
science sources for enhanced credibility”.

1) articles about the dangers and limitations of GMO foods/ crops

2) specifically, the work that Catherine Ives was doing at MSU around 2000

3) articles on Greenspace and global warming (buffering action). These we
could also pass on to Maketewah for their work on the anti-development
campaigns. Maybe the city of Toledo would be a source, as they are
developing a greenspace policy.

4)articles on deforestation, or in general about imminent environmental
collapse (Joseph Speth, Naomi Klein are some recent “credible” authors)

5) We are also seeking recent cases that might help with sentencing advice
(ie non political arson cases, vandalism cases) for comparison.

6) We are also seeking a transcript of Rod Coronado’s 1995 MSU related
trial. Specifically the presentation by Rods attorneys about who Rod was
politically.

We would like to make Marie's friends and close supporters aware that
recently individuals who have gone to visit Marie in Michigan have been
pulled over for the most minor traffic violations by local law
enforcement. A situation that should result in a warning or quick ticket
turns into an interrogation of the identity, intent, and associations
everyone in the vehicle.

We believe this to be another form of harassment and attempt to isolate
Marie likely being directed at Marie’s friends and supporters from the FBI
or some other related alphabet soup gang. If you are planing on visiting
Marie it is best to give the vehicle you are traveling in a look over for
any violation that could result in a ticket. You should also have the
vehicles registration and insurance papers in order. The driver should
have a valid drivers license on him or her. This wont stop them from
pulling you over but will hopefully make the interaction go smoother.

Thanks to a recent supreme court ruling you are REQUIRED to identify
yourself to law enforcement on request. Outside of this we would like to
remind everyone that they are under no obligation whatsoever to speak with
law enforcement under any circumstances without an attorney present.
Additionally, if you do choose to speak to law enforcement, and are found
later to have been untruthful in any way, this constitutes basis for
criminal prosecution. Its perfectly legal for law enforcement to lie to
you but it is a criminal act for you to lie to them.

The National Lawyers Guild has established a hotline, 888-NLG-ECOL, for
individuals arrested, subpoenaed or questioned for offenses related to
environmental or animal activism. We encourage people to call the NLG hot
line if you are contacted by law enforcement and would like to consult
with an attorney on these matters.

We wanted to get the word out so folks will not be caught off guard if
this does happen. We are not going to allow these scare tactics to keep us
away from visiting and supporting Marie and we encourage others to do the
same. The best way to show the state that we will not be intimidated by
these petty scare tactics is to continue on with any plans to visit Marie.
Being separated from her community and young daughter is already stressful
enough on her. We cannot let the state further isolate her and intimidate
us in her time of need.

Marie Mason was arrested and charged with ELF activities in Michigan
dating back almost a decade. As many of you already know Marie has since
been released on an unsecured bond and has been under house arrest for
over a month now awaiting trial. Marie’s attorney petitioned the court to
serve her house arrest in her own community of Cincinnati, OH, where her
young daughter, close friends, animal companions, and support crew are
located. The court denied her request citing she “did not have sufficient
property interests in Cincinnati”. She is required to serve her house
arrest in the western district of Michigan.

While house arrest is no where near as bad as incarceration it still has
its own bag of stresses and hardships. We are encouraging folks to
continue to send Marie letters of support. House arrest does not have any
silly jail rules like what type of ink or paper you use so get creative.
Letters, Photos, Art, videos, collages, vegan baked goods and vegan
recipes are all welcome. Email letters of support are also welcome and can
be sent to freemarie@riseup.net and will be forwarded to Marie.

We want to be clear though Marie’s needs and isolation in this respect are
not as pressing as some of the other Green Scare prisoners who are
currently incarcerated. If you are only going to write just one letter we

Tre has been locked up almost four years awaiting trial, Both Briana and
Eric are locked down awaiting sentencing and Sadie and Exile are serving
7+ years for Green Scare related actions.

April 10th, 2008:
It has been brought to our attention by reputable sources that a grand jury is currently convened in Michigan
investigating actions that police informant Frank Ambrose plead guilty to. Ambrose’s plea agreement is available at the address below:

Recently released from his prison term for releasing thousands of mink in 2005, veteran activist Peter Young is an emerging voice of strength through sacrifice in the struggle for animal liberation and all forms of justice. After serving two years for his role in a two week campaign of fur farm raids across the Midwest, Peter Young has recently returned to the world on this side of the fence, and brings with him an inspiring story of moving from mainstream activism to midnight raids, prison, FBI “wanted” status, and beyond.

We are happy to report that despite a mind numbing amount of red tape and drama from the probation dept. and the associated electronic tether, Marie was released from jail Tuesday. She is under house arrest at a relative’s house and only able to go outside with permission 2 hours a week. She also needs special permission to see her lawyer because his office falls outside the western district. There is a tentative trial-date set for May 27, 2008, but we have been informed by her attorney that this date will almost certainly be pushed back as there has not been adequate time to prepare the case.

Marie is under strict rules from the court as to who she can be in contact with. Because of this we are encouraging anyone who wishes to be in contact with her EMAIL your contact info to freemarie@riseup.net and we will pass it along. Please DO NOT attempt to contact Marie directly without first ensuring it is ok to do so.

In a recent phone call she wanted to express gratitude for all the letters of support and offers of help saying “Please let everyone know how much I love them and how thankful I am for all the support. When I was locked up I was basically cut off from the world and had no idea what was going on outside. The letters were especially helpful shining light during those dark times.”

We are grateful to all who have donated to Marie’s legal defense fund. If you haven’t already we would like to encourage you to support Marie. We are also happy to announce that the magazine Fifth Estate is matching donations dollar for dollar up to $1000. We are encouraging individuals to join and specifically choose to have their membership fees donated to this support effort. You do not need to be a member of the IWW to join the GDC.
